On being a writer

Good writing starts with being a good listener. You have to dig. Understand. I too, am occasionally slammed by headlines. I dig to understand though. Where would've a story such as One Virus One Gift have come from? Not just walking around New York. But understanding. I'm on the Subway with a writer from CSI. Lot of awesome, creative people call New York home.
